Mixed media on paper
Fast and Furious series
A Creation by Christophe Ducoin, Painter in Toulouse
With the Fast and Furious series, Christophe Ducoin explores the expressive possibilities of drawing on paper through rapid, instinctive, and free-flowing gestures. Each work is born from a raw impulse, where the energy of the line takes precedence over the pursuit of perfection.
Paper, being lightweight and accessible, serves as the ideal medium for this spontaneous series. It hosts distorted human figures, enigmatic scenes, and graphic bursts inspired by everyday life, cinema, and current events.
As a painter based in Toulouse, Christophe Ducoin plays here with the conventions of contemporary drawing—blending irony and intensity—while maintaining a strong connection to the human experience and its emotions.
A Gestural and Immediate Approach
The Fast and Furious series derives its name from the intended speed of execution. It expresses a desire to capture the moment, the movement, and the sense of urgency. Each drawing is a trace, a reaction—almost a performance captured on paper.
This work also questions the status of the artwork: what remains of the gesture once it is made? The paper, a modest medium, thus becomes the witness to raw energy and an unfiltered artistic act.
